The Corporal Works of Mercy are found in the teachings of Jesus and give us a model for how we should treat all others, as if they were Christ in disguise. They "are charitable actions by which we help our neighbors in their bodily needs". They respond to the basic needs of humanity as we journey together through this life.
Feed My Sheep: Bags are distributed at both Churches and returned the Sunday before Thanksgiving filled with non-perishable goods to feed God’s hungry through local food banks. Giving Tree: Christmas gifts are given to needy children through the Christ Child Society. Names are on the trees at both Churches.
Good Counsel Homes: Baby Bottles are distributed at both Churches, and we are asked to fill them with loose change or cash to be collected and used to help unwed mothers and their babies.
Lenten Sacrifices: Bags are distributed at both Churches and returned on the Sunday prior to Palm Sunday filled with non-perishable goods to feed God’s hungry through local food banks.
Set A Plate For Jesus: “Take home” containers are available in the vestibules of both Churches. Take some home, fill them with homemade food from your table, freeze them, return them to either Church, and place them in the freezers provided by our parish. The meals go to Catholic Charities and Branches.
Soups On: A church based meal provider, “Branches,” is located in Rio Grande. Volunteers are needed to help make soup at St. Raymond Hall and take it to Branches. Call Sr. Kathleen at 609-886-3663 for details.
Winter Coat Drive: Bins are located in the vestibules of both Churches from November until the warm weather arrives. Slightly worn and clean coats – all sizes – are accepted. Coats are distributed to the homeless.
