Dear Parishioners of St. John Neumann Parish,
In August of this year, Bishop Sullivan issued a decree requiring all parishes to conform with certain diocesan norms regarding Mass times. Most significantly is the requirement that parishes have only one (1) Vigil Mass per parish on Saturday evenings. After much deliberation and consultation with the Parish Pastoral Council and Finance Council we will be implementing the following Mass Schedule beginning January 1, 2023:
St. John of God Church: |
St. Raymond Church: Corpus Christi Mass and Procession |
As we are a “Shore Parish” we are permitted an additional 6:00pm Mass on Saturdays at St. Raymond Church: May-September ONLY.
In Summary:
October - April: there will be NO Saturday Vigil Mass at St. Raymond Church.
May - September: the Saturday Vigil Mass at St. Raymond will be moved to 6 PM to accommodate the possibility of having only 1 priest.
There will be no Saturday afternoon Confessions at St. Raymond Church.
First Saturday of the Month: Mass 9:00 AM, Exposition following Mass, Confessions 9:30-10:30 AM, Benediction 10:30 AM. This Mass will be offered each month for vocations to the priest¬hood and religious life from our parish.
For Holy Days of Obligation (other than Christmas: 9 AM Mass remains at St. John of God; 7PM Mass will be at St. Raymond.
Lenten Stations of the Cross will be 8:20 AM at St. John of God, 7 PM at St. Raymond Funerals, Weddings, and Baptisms will be available, by request, at St. Raymond.
I recognize that these changes are not easy. It was not my intention to come here and change the Mass schedule. In the winter the total Saturday Mass Count is under 250 people. Attendance: typically 15-25% more people attend Mass at St. John of God than at St. Raymond Parking spots: 140 at St. Raymond, 238 at St. John of God; Seating Capacity: 480 at St. Raymond, 600 at St. John of God. If you would like to arrange to speak with me about these changes I can be reached at the rectory: 609-884-1656 X307 or
God Bless you,
Fr. King
